26th Annual SGV-NAACP Tribute to Martin Luther King Day
San Gabriel Valley NAACP announces its 26th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King jr.  Monday, January 20, 2025 11:00 am-2:00 pm. It will be held at the West Covina Civic Center Courtyard, 1444 West Garvey south, West Covina, CA 91790.

The Theme: ALL IN

The theme honors Dr. King’s unwavering dedication to justice and equality through nonviolent

It serves as a powerful reminder that safeguarding freedom, justice, and democracy is achievable when we unite in love and nonviolence.
Join us in celebrating Dr. King’s vision by advocating for a world where these values are upheld through peaceful means. Together, we can make this mission possible in 2025 and beyond! San Gabriel Valley NAACP looks forward seeing you Monday at the West Covina Civic Center Courtyard.

SGV-NAACP Installation of new officers


Our elected officers are the Leadership of the San Gabriel Valley NAACP, and the installation ceremony recognizes their positions and reinforces their confidence, loyalty, leadership ability and  commitment to SGV-NAACP.. They are responsible for the success of the branch  in the spirit of our mission of NAACP.

MISSION: To achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education and economic security of Black people and all persons of color.

Thank you for attending the installation ceremony which is a very important NAACP tradition.

The installation Officer was Rev.and guest speaker was the Honorable Valdez Demings, former Congresswoman. Carole Davis, NCNW Central Florida Chapter President, sung a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Our dynamic  Master of Ceremony, was Mr.  Fred Robinson, Orange County Mayor’s Veteran’s Advisory Council Chairman.  American Legion Post 331 provided the Honor Guards for the ceremony. They provided the Colors in an outstanding and professional manner. We also thank the many others special guest from the local Veteran Community, who made time to attend our 2025 Officer Installation Ceremony.  More pictures of the ceremony can be found on Photo Circle.

SGV-NAACP Executive Committee Meeting-

Per our Bylaws (pg 22-23) it is the responsibility of the SGV-NAACP Executive Committee  to budget and plan the activities for the upcoming year (2024 )and submit to the General body of the branch in December 2023 for approval.

This process will begin at the October Executive Committee. Executive Committee Members you will receive the agenda and other appropriate documents  prior to the meeting. Please come prepared to actively engage in this process.

The executive order, signed on July 26, 1948, was President Harry S. Truman’s historic move to integrate the U.S. military. It not only transformed the rank and file of people who served our country in the military, but it also integrated and transformed our society.
Come out and hear how this Executive Order impacted the careers of African American Military Personnel.
