McDonald’s is selling cheeseburgers for $1.08, but your window of opportunity is very narrow.
The offer is available to its app users for one day, Thursday, Jan. 8.
The offer will be available after restaurants stop serving breakfast at 10:30 a.m. for most locations.
The occasion is “1 in 8 Day,” a celebration the fast food giant invented to honor the one in eight Americans it claims has worked in a McDonald’s restaurant. The community includes current and former crew members, according to the McDonald’s app.
“Its a shared experience that quietly connects over 40 million people across the country,” a news release from the company stated.
McDonald’s is debuting a “Arches and Ambition: The 1 in 8 Mentorship Program” in a YouTube video series. It is intended to connect current crew members with McDonald’s alumni trailblazers who’ve turned their early lessons under the Golden Arches into thriving careers in entrepreneurship, food, fashion, and sports.
One video features chef John Liu of Chifa in Eagle Rock with McDonald’s manager Abigail Robles, who also has her own business called Queen Bees cakes in Los Angeles.
McDonald’s is asking the public to share their stories using the hashtag #1in8Day.
The first McDonald’s restaurant as we know it was opened in 1948 by a pair of brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino. Entrepreneur Roy Krok became their first franchisee in 1954, later taking over and expanding the brand globally. It now has about 13,500 U.S. restaurants, nearly all franchises, the news release said.
Other current promotions include a $6 Extra Value Meal with a Sausage McMuffin and a $9 Extra Value Meal with two Snack Wraps.
The current Happy Meal featuring Disneyland 70th anniversary toys is nearing the end of its run and may not be available at some restaurants.
