A West Covina man was charged Monday, Jan. 5, with killing his 74-year-old grandmother and injuring his 77-year-old grandfather on New Year’s Day.

Joshua Philip Day, 28, is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 14 in Pomona Superior Court on one count of murder and one count of elder abuse likely to produce great bodily injury or death, according to court records.

Day allegedly attacked his grandparents, Philip and Priscilla Sesanto, after an argument on Jan. 1, police said.

Officers went to the 1700 block of West Mossberg Avenue on a report of a family disturbance and found the grandparents injured, police said. Officers arrested Day.

Philip Sesanto was treated at a hospital then released while his wife was in critical condition, police said. She died the next day.

As of Tuesday, booking records show Day is being held at Men’s Central Jail without bail.

Police asked anyone with information about the case to call detectives at 626-939-8505.
